Astronomical Farmstay!

It was a most exciting weekend. On Friday afternoon we headed towards Braidwood just past Goulburn. It was a farmstay with an astronomical flavour. The resident expert Z was there to share his telescope with anyone who cared to venture out after dark... In the freezing wind...and the below zero temperatures. It was mostly the boys who took up the offer and were well repayed with many and varied stars... planets...globulars... clusters... and other things I haven't heard of. We started our puzzle on Friday night... It was 1000 pieces of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Sabbath was a quiet one. Music...sleeping...talking...lunch...etc On Saturday night the girls and L went out for a look through the telescope and to take their turn at freezing... and walking through the dark on dirt roads. We were given a peek at Saturn first, Jupitar with its double star and Alph Santora (spelt wrong) and Omega Santora (also spelt wrong!). Then the cloud came over and we headed home for tea and to save Georgina from her father or maybe its the other way round! We watched the movie The Dish, had a good laugh and continued on with the puzzle. Georgina was entertained by all her cousins particularly the wee girls who shared their toys. Georgina was amazed at the wee girls kite flying skills and wished she was running around outside in the freezing wind (instead was inside watching through the glass door). We headed home on Sunday morning only a little worse for wear. We can't wait to do it all again... in slightly warmer weather!!!
